Did you know…

A single African wild dog pack can have between two and 30 dogs, but six is ideal for hunting and breeding.

While each pack is ruled by an “alpha” male and female pair, the female sits at the top. She chooses where to build their den and carries the litter.

African wild dogs are highly social. They mourn lost family members. Other females act as babysitters to other pups. And if one dog falls ill or becomes injured, the entire pack rallies behind them.

The African wild dog is one of the most endangered species in the world. Only 7,000 dogs are left across all of Africa.
