Meet Re:wild
The goal of Re:wild is simple - protect and restore the planet, together. Founded by Leonardo DiCaprio and a group of conservation scientists, Re:wild works to drive systemic and lasting change for the planet - its climate, biodiversity and humanity - by bringing together and collaborating with conservation champions, global and local stakeholders, indigenous peoples and communities, through targeted, solution-focused approaches and action funds.
To date, Re:wild’s work has helped conserve over 180M acres and 100 threatened species, created 47 conservation areas, and benefitted over 16,000 species. At present, Re:wild has over 200 active projects in over 90 countries, with over 400 partners. Re:wild’s current priorities include managing and re-wilding biodiversity hotspots, protecting threatened and endangered wildlife and championing conservation stewards.
In 2021, their rewilding goals led to the establishment of an initiative to rewild the Galapagos, a 10-year and $240M commitment. Re:wild works to protect endangered wildlife through strategic partnerships, including the Sumatran Rhino Survival Alliance and the Atelopus Survival Initiative, and in establishing wildlife funds. Their Shark Conservation Fund has helped protect 198 shark and ray species, and establish about 80,000 miles of marine protected area.
