Save the Whales
Nearly 50 years ago, Greenpeace launched the world's first anti-whaling campaign. Their mission helped establish an international ban on commercial whaling and trade, saving several species of whales from extinction.
But even decades later, more progress still needs to be made. Climate change, fishing gear, vessel strikes, ocean pollution continue to put these ocean giants at risk. And now, seven out of 13 great whale species are threatened; some may even be extinct in the next 20 years.
That’s why we’re dedicating all of February to safeguarding whales and other marine life, turning the shortest month of the year into one, big celebration for our OCEANS.
