Meet Rainforest Trust
Rainforest Trust works to save and strengthen Earth’s most threatened tropical forests and its wildlife. To do so, Rainforest Trust establishes and expands upon legally recognized and protected rainforest reserves through key partnerships, community engagement, and donor support. They have helped protect over 45 million acres of tropical habitat and 2,000+ threatened species, in addition to helping store 5.8 billion metric tons of CO2. Additionally, 99% of the forest in Rainforest Trust's reserves remain standing post-protection.
By 2025, Rainforest Trust hopes to triple its impact — saving half of the world’s threatened species and protecting over 125 million acres of tropical forests from deforestation, fire, poaching, and climate change. To achieve this goal, Rainforest Trust remains committed in creating animal reserves and large-scale protected forested areas, including five in the Amazon and at least one in the Congo, Southern Africa, the Sahel, Northern Myanmar, Borneo and New Guinea.
Between 2021-2025, Rainforest alliance will raise and allocate $200 million towards saving species and critical habitats. By funneling 100% of individual funding and nearly 94% of all funds received towards their programs, Rainforest Trust is on track to achieve these goals.
