Trafficking Threat: Rainforest Frogs

Let's donate

Rare frogs can sell for thousands of dollars on the black market, thousands are being stolen from rainforests because of it.

In Colombia, amphibian trafficking remains rampant. Each week, the Bogota airport seizes hundreds of poison dart frogs, many found in film canisters, dehydrated, stressed, or suffocated.

Because they are endangered, they have become highly sought-after by private collectors and for illegal trade in exotic pet markets. This has devastating consequences for the ecosystems they inhabit.

While there were once 80,000 frogs in the Anchicayá Valley, today there are only 5,000 left.

Conservation programs are working hard to protect these vital species from extinction. Help them by setting up a monthly donation that supports our RAINFOREST nonprofits.
