Let's donate

Since the outbreak of the Russian invasion, we’ve been deeply moved by the determination of Ukrainians to defend their homeland.

On February 22, 2022, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine, marking the beginning of an unprecedented invasion by enemy forces. We have been deeply moved by the determination of Ukrainians to defend their homeland. Even before the creation of the VAKOVAKO platform, we participated in several fundraisers, and we continue to offer our support. Join us in making a difference.

One of the first

We acted swiftly and decisively in the early days of the war, donating a total of 1 million CZK to a fundraiser organized by the Czech organization, Post Bellum (Memory of the Nation). The funds were used to purchase crucial equipment that has since saved many lives and enhanced the safety of Ukraine's defenders.

We specifically directed the funds towards medical supplies, protective vests, helmets, gloves, sleeping bags, tents, radios, batteries, drones, thermal imaging equipment, and food. Additionally, the funds were used to improve healthcare for children and individuals affected by the Russian invasion.

Part of the collected funds and material assistance was provided by Post Bellum, z.ú., to the Ukrainian non-profit organization Повернись живим / Come Back Alive. Since 2014, this organization has been dedicated to the long-term distribution of protective equipment and material support to Ukraine’s defenders.

Thanks to the Memory of the Nation for Ukraine collection, we were able to provide the defenders of Ukraine with the following supplies during the first two months of the war (February 22 - April 20, 2022):

  • 8,000 bulletproof vests
  • 2,400 thermal imaging and drones
  • 200 lung ventilators and EKG machines
  • Over 1,000 pairs of shoes, hundreds of sleeping bags, backpacks, jackets and gloves, 18,000 first aid kits for soldiers
  • 1,600 ballistic helmets and additional medical equipment worth 40 million CZK.

The Memory of the Nation collection for Ukraine is one of the largest Czech initiatives, and we’re proud to have been one of its first proactive donors at the beginning of the war.

Through VAKOVAKO, we continue to support this mission, with a portion of the funds raised through the Help to Ukraine project dedicated specifically to providing equipment and financial aid to the defenders of Ukraine. These funds are directed directly to Ukrainian organizations.

The first aid of this type, totaling 63,900 CZK, was sent to the non-profit organization ComeBackAlive on August 13. We believe that with your continued support, this assistance will grow and become a regular contribution.

Standing for the voiceless

Serhii Nuzhnenko (Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty) / the Collection of war.ukraine.ua

War conflicts inflict suffering not only on people but also on animals, who are often overlooked. In their desperation, fleeing individuals frequently leave their animal companions behind, forcing these animals to fend for themselves. If they are fortunate, they may end up in one of the animal shelters. However, the situation in Ukrainian shelters was challenging even before the war, and the influx of new arrivals has only intensified due to the conflict.

In 2022, through the Czech organization Freedom of Animals, we donated 562,000 CZK to UAnimals, one of Ukraine's largest and most active animal welfare organizations. UAnimals further distributed financial donations to Ukrainian shelters, rescue stations, and animal shelters.

VAKOVAKO continues to facilitate support for animals in Ukraine. All it takes is a donation. Please remember those who cannot protect themselves.

Shelling of a children's hospital and launch of aid to Ukraine at VAKOVAKO

On Monday, July 8, 2024, Kyiv endured one of its most devastating and extensive air attacks since the war began. Tragically, Russian rockets struck the Ohmatdyt Children's Hospital, which now urgently requires funding for reconstruction and continued operation.

Ohmatdyt Kyiv is Ukraine's largest children's hospital, dedicated to saving lives since 1894. It has 720 beds and annually treats over 20,000 patients, performing more than 9,000 operations. Oncology is a critical focus area at the hospital. The Tabletochki Foundation, which operates within Ohmatdyt, supports children with cancer and has raised nearly 23 million USD over the past 13 years, helping thousands of children.

On August 13 of this year, we allocated EUR 40,000 from the VAKOVAKO project to support humanitarian efforts. We sent EUR 25,000 to Ohmatdyt Hospital and EUR 15,000 to the Tabletochki Foundation.

You too can help Ohmatdyt Hospital and send any amount of money through VAKOVAKO.
